VĖJOPATIS is one of the best native Lituanian electronic music artists, known for his distinctive style and foundational connections to ancient mythology. “Ritualai,” his sixth album, forges new creative paths that yield fresh electronic rhythms and sonorities.
 
For this album, VĖJOPATIS adopted a new sound. Whereas on previous albums he utilized natural motifs, here the sound is completely electronic and full of synthesizer modulations. In this way, it’s reminiscent of the popular styles of the 1980s. But VĖJOPATIS reveals the ideas and themes of the work in original and contemporary ways.
 
The album is dedicated to the everyday stories that we create for ourselves. It evokes the paradoxes of pandemic time, when people sought an illusion of community even when they were alone for long periods of time. The theme is relevant to our society, of course, and this album perhaps assists in understanding why an individual’s own personal rituals sometimes help create bonds with others, and other times cause differences and division.
 
The refreshing and dreamy sound of the album smells of rush and optimism. “Ritualai” gives listeners the opportunity to observe their own personal rituals and search for more answers to the challenges of today’s life.
