Kur giria užėjo (English: Where the Woods Came) is a first solo album by AGOTA Zdanavičiūtė, a talented Lituanian singer and kanklės musician, known from the SEN SVAJA group and many other folk music projects. This album presents eight creative post-folk compositions, inspired by fairy tales of the legendary herbalist Eugenija Šimkūnaitė (1920—1996).

The music’s motifs, texts, and mythic incantations come from Šimkūnaitė’s books “Girios medeliai, žali žaliuonėliai” (Trees of the Forest, the Green Ones), “Indraja – Saulės duktė” (Indraja, the Daughter of the Sun), and “Gyvačių karalystė” (The Kingdom of Snakes). Dr. Eugenija Šimkūnaitė was a famous pharmacist, ethnographer, herbalist, and a real sorcerer. She dedicated her entire life to the beauty and wisdom of Nature.

AGOTA follows Šimkūnaitė’s paths in the mossy forests with tender attention. These original compositions are arranged for her voice and the beloved traditional Lituanian string instrument, the kanklės (zither).

The album is published in a very original and artful form, with each copy containing a personal touch from the hands of Agota herself. Every CD package is unique and carries a blessed piece of Nature. Step forward to the forest for new magic discoveries!
